NDIS Information

NDIS Funding & Pricing

Clear, transparent information about how NDIS funding works, what Banksia Care can support, and what costs may apply.

How funding works

No surprise conversations. No hidden assumptions.

NDIS funding depends on the individual participant's plan, the applicable funding category, the purpose of the support, the plan management type, current NDIS rules, applicable legislation, current pricing arrangements and provider registration.

Banksia Care will always be transparent about what is NDIS-funded, what may involve a private or out-of-pocket cost, and what falls outside the scope of NDIS funding.

Core Supports

Banksia Care accepts eligible Core funding for relevant supports such as community access and participation where permitted under the participant's plan and applicable NDIS rules.

Capacity Building

Banksia Care provides eligible supports that may be funded under relevant Capacity Building categories, including Improved Daily Living, Increased Social and Community Participation, Support Coordination and other relevant categories where applicable.

Plan-managed

Banksia Care works with plan-managed participants. Invoices are submitted to the plan manager in accordance with the participant's plan and applicable NDIS requirements.

Self-managed

Banksia Care works with self-managed participants. Participants manage their own funding and pay providers directly.

NDIA-managed

Where the relevant service, provider registration and participant circumstances permit, NDIA-managed arrangements can be discussed. For the Banksia Care Behaviour Practitioner, NDIA-managed stated funding may be accepted where all relevant NDIS requirements are satisfied.

Out-of-pocket costs

Private costs explained clearly.

Some costs associated with activities, outings, programs or services may not be NDIS-funded. These may include activity entrance fees, food costs, accommodation costs, transport costs or other expenses that are not an allowable NDIS support.

Banksia Care will clearly distinguish NDIS-funded supports from private or out-of-pocket costs before services commence. No participant will be surprised by a cost that was not explained in advance.

Reasonable and necessary

The test every NDIS support must meet.

For a support to be funded by the NDIS, it must be considered 'reasonable and necessary' under the NDIS Act. This is the central test applied to every support in a participant's plan.

A reasonable and necessary support is one that is related to the participant's disability, represents value for money, is likely to be effective and beneficial, takes into account what is reasonable to expect families and carers to provide, and is not better funded through another system such as health, education or housing.

The NDIS does not fund every support a participant may want or need. Banksia Care will be honest about what is likely to meet this test and what may not, before services commence, not after.

Reasonable and necessary supports, NDIS

What this means in practice

The support must be related to your disability.

It must represent value for money.

It must be likely to be effective and beneficial.

It must not be better funded through health, education or housing systems.

It must take into account what families and carers can reasonably provide.
