How we work
School holidays, their way.
At Banksia Care, school holiday programs are designed with more than generic holiday care or unstructured recreation in mind. We intentionally create experiences that provide opportunities to practise functional skills, social participation, communication, independence and everyday decision-making in real-world environments.
We know that independence cannot always be developed exclusively from a textbook or inside a clinical therapy room. It can also be strengthened through practical experiences, navigating a local supermarket with peers, planning a camp menu, managing a budget within a supported activity, ordering at a café, participating in household routines and working through the natural social dynamics of a group environment.
Our role is to provide an appropriately skilled and supportive environment so participants can develop confidence and participate as independently as is appropriate for them.
Activities may include
- Cooking, baking and kitchen skills
- Arts, crafts, painting and drawing
- Sport, recreation and games
- Community outings and social activities
- Life skills and independence activities
- Interest-based and sensory-aware activities
- Quiet activities and regulation-friendly options

Funding transparency
No surprises. No hidden assumptions.
Banksia Care will clearly distinguish the support component of a program from any participant or family costs associated with the activity itself. Where a particular support is eligible for NDIS funding, the applicable NDIS support item, funding category, participant plan and current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits must all be considered before claiming.
Any activity-specific expenses, participant contributions, entrance fees, accommodation costs, food costs or other private expenses will be clearly identified in advance and will only be charged where lawful, appropriate and agreed with the participant or their representative.
Banksia Care will provide clear, itemised pricing and explain what is NDIS-funded, what is privately payable and what is an external cost before the participant commits to the arrangement.
